The tourist fee: why your category matters
Samarkand is a regional centre, so the tourist fee is collected there. The rate depends on what you run: a family guest house with up to 20 beds collects 2% of the base calculation amount per foreign guest per night (UZS 8,800 with the BCA at UZS 440,000 from 1 September 2026), while an apartment or private house with up to 5 rooms collects 5% (UZS 22,000). Hotels pay 5%, 10% or 15% depending on the number of rooms. Citizens of Uzbekistan pay 0.4%, and children under 16 are exempt.
