Ski weekends and summer weeks

Shymbulak opened its 2024/25 winter season on 23 November 2024 and closed it on 13 April 2025, so for almost five months mountain weekends compete with city stays for the same apartments.

In Roomi PMS prices and minimum stays can differ by date range: a two-night minimum on ski Saturdays, a different rate for the summer, and the calendar keeps both apart.

eQonaq: the 3-working-day notice

Kazakhstan puts the duty on the receiving party: whoever hosts a foreigner notifies the migration service within 3 working days of arrival, and the Interior Ministry has said this covers private apartment owners, not just hotels. The notice goes through the eQonaq app, the vmp.gov.kz portal or a migration office. Skipping it is an offence under Article 518 of the Code of Administrative Offences: a warning the first time, a fine for a repeat.

A guest staying up to 30 days needs no registration of their own, but your notice is still required. Roomi PMS gathers passport data on the guest page before check-in, so the eQonaq form can be filled from it in a minute; sending it stays with you.

Almaty has a winter season that most cities in the region do not. In 2024/25 Shymbulak ran from 23 November to 13 April, so for almost five months ski weekends compete with city stays for the same flats. After mid-April the mountain weekends are over until the next winter.

Two calendars follow from that. From late November to mid-April, weekends get their own rate and a two-night minimum, while weekdays can keep a shorter one. From mid-April the rates move to the summer pattern. Visitors from China, who may stay up to 30 days without a visa since 10 November 2023 and grew 39.2% in January to September 2025, add demand in both seasons, which is why Trip.com matters here.

Where guests find Almaty apartments

• Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com and Hostelworld sync with Roomi PMS, and Ostrovok connects directly.
• Krisha (krisha.kz) is the large local listing site: on 12 October 2026 its daily rental section listed 47,800 apartments across Kazakhstan.
• OLX.kz has its own daily rental section for Almaty apartments.
• Neither Krisha nor OLX.kz syncs with Roomi PMS. A booking from them goes into the calendar by hand, and then its nights close on the connected channels.

Notifying about foreign guests in Almaty

Whoever hosts a foreigner in Kazakhstan notifies the migration service within 3 working days of arrival, usually through eQonaq.
