Tax options for apartment owners in 2026
Kazakhstan's new Tax Code took effect on 1 January 2026. An owner renting out housing can choose between four legal routes, and registering as a sole proprietor is not compulsory:
- Declare the income as an individual on form 270.00, due by 15 September.
- Have the tax withheld by a tenant that is a company or a sole proprietor.
- Register as self-employed: income up to 300 MCI a month (KZT 1,297,500), 0% income tax and 4% social payments through the E-Salyq Business app.
- Register as a sole proprietor on the simplified regime and file form 910.00.
- Individual income tax itself is 10% on annual income up to 8,500 MCI and 15% above that.
